Lori R. Lopez is my Woman In Horror today! Lori writes in many genres, sub-genres, and genre-blends. She is a talented poet, writes children's and YA books, and has mainstream horror books. Her horror can be mild and funny or terrifying. Be on guard because anything can and does pop out of her head and onto the keyboard.

Lori is one of a very few authors I know who are are capable of doing their own edits. I can't do it for sure. I miss too much no matter how many times I go over things. While I do editing for others, it's easier to make suggestions to an author - the author's decision is always final - than to catch myself in a mistake.

She wears many hats. Physical and otherwise. Along with her sons Noel and Rafael, they have eclectic talents: artists, authors, poets, composers, musicians, actors, filmmakers, and techno wizards. Catch up with all of them at http://fairyflyentertainment.com/.

Lori is her own person, with a style of her own, one of no rules, blending of genres, and with a poet's touch. This stands to reason since even as a child, dolls were not for her. She chose other, more imaginative toys.

With her overactive imagination, there is virtually nothing that will escape her magic quill. She has monsters of every shape and size; some nice; some not; and a most interesting entourage of protagonists who might very well turn out to be antagonists in sheep's clothing. Her writing, as she says, is similar to painting with words, and that is very true, although once again there is the poetic side to add to the canvas. Impressionist art? In my opinion, yes. Every story is not deciphered the same for every reader because Lori writes stories within her stories and lessons to be extracted with deep meaning, albeit, usually with a humorous annotation. Therein lies the magic of her story-telling. Every reader is able to extract from her words a different meaning, although the story is the same for everyone. A paradox of absolutes and variables existing within the minds of readers. All who read Lori's tales will garner that special something waiting for them. I have always felt that a writer who over-describes leaves nothing for the reader to make her/his own. Lori gives them that choice. Yes, she paints the picture, but allows readers to take hold of the brush and paint themselves into the story. Lori writes with glorious description - you see , feel, smell, taste, and hear all the wonders within her stories - but there is mystery there at all times, a sixth sense she shares with us.

" Words are my strength, but they are also my weakness; my Achille’s Heel; my Kryptonite. I am vulnerable to their impact, their weight, their significance. To their points or edges or bluntness.” -- Lori R. Lopez

Lori does not believe in writing that which has been written before. No, no no. That is for lesser writers. Her novel An Ill Wind Blows is evidence of that. She wrote this in a month and took home a Crystal Trophy for being the best of the best in a group of accomplished authors. I was one of the writers she topped. I'm not afraid to say this. My story was good, but hers was better. No shame in that. She wrote a great book. :D
This young lady has many friends and fans in the horror industry and some in other genres because she writes of many things. There is no one tag for Lori. She is her own woman. One thing that I admire about her is the fact she has been able to rise above much adversity to accomplish what she has. She is to be admired for that. Very much so.

Here is a great interview done this month at Only Five Star Book Reviews, headed up by Malina Roos.

Go to Lori's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/lorilopez and get a glimpse into how she supports other authors and causes. She has a great heart and is very outspoken about things she is concerned with. Children's rights, animal rights, the environment, and a lot more is on her agenda to be fought for.

Amazon bio:

Lori R. Lopez wears many hats, literally and otherwise.
