CK Webb is my Woman In Horror today! This young lady is involved in a ton of projects. Not only is she an author, CK does book reviews, and co-hosts a radio show http://www.blogtalkradio.com/tags?q=webbweaver-books  with DJ Weaver, her mother, and another one of my great Women In Horror.

https://www.facebook.com/cassidy.webb.94 is my favorite Facebook link to see what she is up to. Believe me. She is up to plenty.

CK believes in helping others in the publishing industry. It matters not how they publish. She spreads the word. I certainly admire her for that. Many authors are caught up more in their own worlds and don't take the time to help others. Thank you for doing what you do, CK.

 Amazon bio:

CK Webb was born and raised in Mississippi, and dreamed of writing like the greats; Emily Bronte, Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King, to name a few. CK joined the US Navy and traveled the world, but eventually returned to settle down in the tiny town of Millport, Alabama. A self-proclaimed 'reformed bad girl', this thirty-something writer now shares her life with her husband and two beautiful children. Although CK delights in preying on the fears of others and enjoys killing people... thankfully she does it the legal way; in her novels. She has just completed the first two novels in the 'Innocents' series which she co-wrote with her best-friend and mother, DJ Weaver. CK writes in a variety of other genres and also writes articles and book reviews for Suspense Magazine. CK is one half of the duo who run WebbWeaver Reviews http://bit.ly/HWQKW an award winning book, movie & music review site that focuses on promoting upcoming, new Indie & traditionally published writers.

On to some great books!

What if, instead of help, the call to 911 brought a terrifying, sinister result?

Someone’s abducting children from 911 emergency scenes in Aberdeen Maryland, while their parents call for help and lend aid to accident victims. Someone who’s also listening in, is a monster and vicious child abductor. In the midst of the chaos and confusion of the scene, that monster slips in and steals the innocent children leaving behind no trace for authorities.

Sloanne Kelly is unprepared for what awaits in her hometown as she travels back to Maryland. Her goddaughter is one of the victims and the clock is ticking. Together with her best friend and a local fireman, Shawn Tyler, Sloanne will face the most insidious of criminals and fight to recover the children before there is anymore, Cruelty to Innocents.

Editorial Reviews:
“A kidnapped child is every parent’s worst nightmare—but imagine how you’d feel if your daughter were snatched away while you were distracted trying to save someone else’s life. Set in the sort of town where we all take safety for granted, The 911 Abductions is a heart wrenching, emotional roller coaster readers won’t soon forget.”
–Tasha Alexander, Bestselling Author of “Dangerous to Know”

“A girl goes missing…and time is running out in this explosive debut novel by CK Webb and DJ Weaver. “Cruelty to Innocents” is a riveting thriller that ratchets up the adrenaline and forces you to turn the pages faster and faster as you hope for the best, while fearing the worst. This is a poignant, big-hearted novel that finds good in the midst of evil, hope in the midst of despair. Cruelty will touch your heart and give you plenty to think about after the last page has been turned.”

They write so vividly that once you start reading you can' let go. I'm going to start reading the next book very soon and any book thereafter by these authors.
It's not only suspenful, they bring out the atrocities going on in life and shows
what is being done to make us aware of, perhaps, what we can do to help.

This e-book was very well written. It was suspenseful and engaging. Each day, I read it while riding the stationary bike at the gym...couldn't wait to get to the gym to find out what was happening in Cruelty to Innocents. CK Webb and DJ Weaver have written a wonderful, thought-provoking novel.

Although with Amazon I gave it 5 stars, personally, I had a hard time making up my mind on whether to give this book 3 stars (good) or 4 stars (very good). I very much enjoyed the storyline, but there were more than a few misspellings or grammatical mistakes. In the end, the story itself won out and I gave it 4 stars. I look forward to reading the sequel, but hope it is proofread better. It is a very good book though and to be the authors' first book makes me really look forward to those books that are yet to come.

A horrific tale of child-abduction and murder. CK and DJ outdo themselves with this great novel.

 PRAISE:
“A harrowing, edge of your seat thriller, the frightening premise sucks you in, while the twists and turns will keep you guessing to the last breathtaking word.”
–Richard Doetsch, bestselling author of “Half-Past Dawn”

“Wow! This book grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go till the very last word of the last page. A terrific read by two authors who know their way around a story.”
–Shane Gericke, bestselling author of “Torn Apart”

Highway travel can be lonely and treacherous. Broken down vehicles litter the Emergency Lane like corpses on a battlefield. What if you were alone with no one to call when you found yourself stranded? Your only companion; your small child sleeping in the back seat. What would you do?

On I-10 in Louisiana the answer is simple… you use the Emergency Call Box. cBut while you sigh a breath of relief in the knowledge that help is on its way, a much more sinister listener has heard your 911 call.

Calls for help are coming in from Emergency Call Boxes along I-10 in Louisiana. But, when the State Trooper or wrecker service arrives to assist, there is no sign of the vehicle. Days later, the driver is found savagely murdered with no trace of their tiny passenger in sight.

When a police officer, formerly of the Aberdeen Police Department sees a twisted pattern of murder and child abduction arising from 911 calls, he contacts Sloanne Kelly, now known for her work with child abduction cases. Together, Sloanne, Shawn Tyler and Mac Mackenzie, with the help of reporter Birney Sullivan, go on the hunt for a killer and the innocent children he is collecting.

Format: Kindle Edition
Something is very wrong on I-10. Parents who encounter car problems while riding on the interstate are disappearing along with their children. The parents all make 9-11 calls from callboxes along the interstate and that is the last contact anyone has with them. The bodies of the parents are found in a few days or weeks but the children are never found.

The police are slow to put together the cases as they happen in different jurisdictions. That's where The Saving Angels Agency comes in. The agency was started by Sloanne Kelly and her fiance, Shawn Taylor, two years ago. They were involved in a similar case and Sloane's goddaughter was kidnapped and murdered. When that killer was apprehended, the couple swore that they would spend their lives working on missing child cases. Two years later, they not only had helped put that killer behind bars, but had reunited multiple children with their parents.

Many of the individuals from the earlier case work on this one. Jake MacKenzie was a detective in the earlier case. He moved to Louisiana where the most recent kidnappings are taking place and is the first to make the connection. He calls in Sloanne and Shawn along with their friend Birney Sullivan. Sullivan is a reporter with the ability to take a news story nationwide. Together this team, along with the sheriff in Louisiana and his men, work to discover the killer and try to locate the missing children. Can they be successful against such a diabolical killer?

C.K. Webb and D.J. Weaver have created an interesting cast of characters. Collecting Innocents is the second book in their series, but is easily accessible without having read the first. The Saving Angels team is an interesting mix of people who have been affected by those who prey on children and have determined to devote their lives to making children safe. This book is recommended to mystery lovers looking for a new series to follow.

This was one heck of a great book. At the start I thought it was going to be another car break down, careless mom leaves sleeping child in car, child gets kidnapped, etc. WRONG, it did not go that way at all. Not in the least. I found it to be a great mystery with lots of twists and not once did I figure out who the bad guy was or why they were doing such horrible things.

I will say, I live by a Route 10 and have always wondered about those call boxes on the highways. I will NEVER drive on that road again without this book being in the back of my head. I am also renewing my AAA membership and making sure my cell phone is always charged and at the ready. Any tow truck driver that should stop to help me better have ID that tells me AAA sent him. Better yet, I will call my husband and forget about tow trucks!

My favorite scene in the book was the scene between Sloan and the little boy who managed to get away from the kidnapper. Her interaction with him was touching and cute. Getting him to give her so much information by playing with Star Wars toys was excellent and helped break the case.

I liked all the characters. They were all like old friends. In the beginning I had a bit of trouble keeping them straight but everything fell quickly into place. It was fun to see the characters using Skype in the novel. I don't believe I will ever be a fan of being looked at while I am on the computer but I know it's the way of today and I enjoyed seeing it in action.

Overall COLLECTING INNOCENTS was in my opinion a five star book. A short book that can be read in a weekend and will keep you guessing and holding your breath. It is the second book in the series. The first one being Cruelty to Innocents.

I actually read this book before I read Cruelty to Innocents so it was really nice to read it again knowing the characters much better this time around. I look forward to more from these authors.

Collecting Innocents by CK Webb & DJ Weaver is the second book in this thrilling and all too realistic series.

If you have read the first book, Cruelty to Innocents, then I know you won't want to miss this one! If you haven't read the first book, you could very easily pick this one up and read it as a stand alone. However, it's a wonderful series and definitely worth the time and effort to read them both.

For a parent, the most terrifying nightmare is for something to happen to your child. Chloe and Sloanne know this from personal experience. Chloe's daughter, Danni, and Sloanne's god daughter, was abducted and murdered in Maryland. They have now joined together and run Saving Angels Investigative Agency where they work as private investigators helping to find missing children. There appears to be another serial killer and child abductor so they have gone to Louisiana to help with the investigation. While there they run into repeated problems with the local authorities who don't want their help. But, they are determined to do everything in their power to help find these missing children.

I very highly recommend this book! This is a wonderfully written suspense thriller that will hook you from the very start and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story line is very realistic, filled with vivid characters that feel like people you know. I have read both books so I really enjoyed getting to pick up with some of the characters from the first book. Prepare for a chilling suspense thriller that you will not want to put down! I am hoping for more books in this great series.
