Suzie Lockhart is my Woman In Horror today! Suzie is not only a great author, editor, and co-publisher, but she is a wonderful humanitarian as well. Her recently published anthology Fractured Realms is a charitable anthology to benefit The Autism Trust. Thank you Horrified Press for working with Suzie on this. I bought some copies of this great anthology last year and can honestly say it is a fantastic anthology, filled with great stories by wonderful authors.

Here is my post on my website and the link to it when Fractured Realms came out:

http://www.blazemcrob.com/2014/08/fractured-realms-great-anthology.html

Extraordinary people marked ‘not normal’ come from all different walks of life. For far too long, a shroud of darkness was thrown over those who’ve had boundless potential to transcend greatness; shunned and cast out through the misjudgment forced upon them. People enduring isolation from being trapped inside their own minds. People labeled with an ASD-Autism Spectrum Disorder. Seeds of greatness cannot be cultivated through judgment and condemnation. Imagine a world never having heard the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? Never seeing the extraordinary art of Michelangelo? What if Sir Isaac Newton hadn’t discovered gravity, and laws of motion that would be relevant 300 years later? And for all the writers out there…were you aware that Lewis Carroll—author of ‘Alice in Wonderland’—fell under the umbrella of Autism? So to all of you, who are reading this, ask yourself… “Is Autism a disorder, or is it a gift?” Through their short stories and poetry, a collection of talented authors have tackled that question.

Look at what I have in my hands!  Fractured Realms. This is a charity anthology in aid of The Autism Trust. My friend and Woman In Horror Suzie Lockhart and her son Bruce Lockhart 2nd are the co-editors. Bruce also has a great story in this. All the proceeds go to The Autism Trust. I bought some and will have to get more later for my book store because I want to keep my personal copy and will send some out to friends. I also had Suzie and Bruce autograph all the copies.

There are many super authors in this tome, including Erik Gustafson who is the Director Of Fantasy at Visionary Press Collaborative,  a Press I am a co-owner in. Gotta love that!

So folks, for a great book where the money goes to a worthy cause, you have one here. Buy and enjoy!

From Suzie, last year:

Convinced she was destined to be an artist, Suzie Lockhart attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh after graduating high school, but the gnawing urge to write always remained. After working as a caricature artist, jewelry designer, retail manager, and an Assistant Director of Admissions back at A.I.P., Suzie finally realized her seventh grade English teacher had been right all along…

She originally wanted to write romance novels, but after discovering the innate ability to tell chilling tales, Suzie embraced her inner-creepiness.
When her son Bruce realized he had the same penchant for macabre storytelling, they teamed up. Three years of working together have produced approximately thirty publications. Their scary stories can be found in a variety of horror publications, including Dark Moon Digest, Sirens Call, Diabolic Publications, JWK Fiction, PMMP, and, Horrified Press.

Suzie has had stories featured in ‘Mistresses of the Macabre’, Sirens Call ‘Women in Horror 2013 & 2014’, and placed in the top ten in the ‘Women on Writing (WOW) Spring Flash Fiction contest 2013’.

In fall of 2012, ‘Team Lockhart’, as Suzie and her son were pegged by Horrified Press, delved into editing. After building a reputation as hard workers, they were asked by that same U.K. publisher to edit their first anthology. ‘Nightmare Stalkers & Dream Walkers’ proved to be a tremendous experience—and ended up taking 2nd place in this year’s ‘P&E Reader’s Poll’!

Presently, Suzie and Bruce are working on a charity anthology entitled ‘Fractured Realms’ to benefit The Autism Trust—a cause close to their hearts, as two members of their family fall under the umbrella of ASD. ‘Nightmare Stalkers & Dream Walkers, volume #2’ is scheduled for release shortly after, as well as ‘Dark Fairytales Revisited, volume#2’.

A few months ago, ‘Team Lockhart’ was awarded their own imprint for Horrified Press—Sinister Saints Press is presently accepting submissions for their first YA anthology, ‘MALICE’, at: nightlocksubs@aol.com
Suzie resides in Western Pennsylvania with her husband and their four children.

Suzie Lockhart and Bruce Lockhart 2nd will be heading up a new subdivision of Horrified Press, entitled ‘Sinister Saints Press’. The focus will center around YA Horror, allowing authors interested in this genre the opportunity to showcase their creative talents. This mother and son writing/editing duo are fascinated with the moldings of the ‘young mind’, as it always has the potential for both good and evil. Sinister Saints will explore many different areas of YA Horror, through a total of four anthologies each year.
Let your creative juices flow as you prepare to delve across the threshold into this fervent world. Explore how different traumas can affect the fate of your protagonist/antagonist; will your character submit to the evils of the world, their morals keeping them steadfast—or will they become the ultimate anti-hero? Their fate is in your hands…

I think it's really cool that Suzie and her son Bruce are working as a team! A special note: read the great interview at  http://authorinterviewcorner.wordpress.com/2013/12/08/suzie-bruce-lockhart/ .  I really love the give and take here, but also, you will find out a lot about this Dynamic Duo.

Suzie's Amazon bio:

Suzie Lockhart originally wanted to write romance novels, but after discovering the innate ability to tell chilling tales, she embraced her inner-creepiness.

Three years of working together have produced over twenty short stories in a variety of horror publications, including Dark Moon Digest, Sirens Call, Horrified Press, Diabolic Publications, and Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing. Suzie appeared in 'Mistresses of the Macabre', the charity anthology entitled 'BLEED', and finished in the Top Ten for 'Women on Writing's Spring Flash Fiction' contest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Title For A Perfect Horror Anthology! October 5, 2014

Adventures In Horrorland, by Suzie Lockhart and Bruce Lockhart 2nd was aptly published last year on Halloween. Read it again this year. The stories will blow you away!

My favorite story is The Monster In Me, penned by both Suzie and Bruce. I am amazed at the fact a duo of authors was able to write this. Great job on both their parts. I can't tell who wrote what. All I can say is that this is horror at its best.

Be Careful What You Wish For, by Suzie, is another great tale, one that has a super ending. Gotta love that!

Shadow Rain, by Bruce, is so great it's hard to describe. It is part horror, part fantasy, and a lot about love. In short, it is a literary gem.

These three stories are my favorites, but they are all great. To show you how much I love this book, I have an autographed paperback version signed by both Suzie and Bruce, and I also bought the Kindle ebook. I don't wish to be one of those people who reviews without buying a book. It's not my style.

I want to see more from these great authors!

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly terrifying collection! September 10, 2014

I have to admit, I was intrigued by the idea of two authors writing together to pen an anthology. To my delight, mother and son team Suzie and Bruce write seamlessly together as a team, drawing the reader in with the strength of the stories in this collection and the emotional connection they forge with the characters they create, making them leap from the page and engross the reader from start to finish. There isn't a single story in here which fails to hit the mark, but my personal favourites are The Monster In Me, Ten To Midnight and the anthology closer, The Chains Of Restitution. Powerful and hard-hitting, this is a collection I can see myself coming back to again and again.

Anyone who enjoys the tingle from reading creepy horror, will love this. I especially enjoyed the story submitted by Sean Farren - well written and seriously sick & twisted. While he may be out of the running as a weekend babysitter, I definitely look forward to more writing from this author.
