Tonia Brown is going to have a release party tomorrow for the reissue of Skin Trade. But it is out early so I thought I would give everyone a chance to take a peek.

Tonia has a rather novel idea with this story. I know I have never heard of anything else like it. I love it and I'm sure you will too.

If you love history combined with horror, this is the book for you. Tonia Brown is a super author.

The Great Undead Uprising of 1870 devastated the western frontier and destroyed the Indian Nations. Though the Army was able to contain the menace before it could devour the entire country, the United States lost claim to her western territories as the survivors fled to the relative safety of the east coast.

Samantha Martin is among the few folks traveling west, seeking asylum within the infected territories. Running from a past that threatens to consume her, young Sam dons the mantle of a male and hides in an all boys’ workhouse that borders these Badlands. From there she is thrust into the service of the skin trade–the terrible deed of trapping and skinning zombies for profit. The work is grueling and perilous, but along the way she finds out what it takes to be a man, why she misses being a woman, and most of all what it means to be human.

Can Sam keep her masquerade up long enough to flee the Badlands, or will the outlaws that rule the western frontier find out she’s female before she can escape?

I am SUPER lucky to be one of the first to read this great novel! Tonia does a wonderful job of really drawing you into the world and characters that she has created. Samantha is a tough, yet loveable young woman, hiding from a quite horrible past. As she ventures farther into the world of Skin Trading, she discovers not everyone can be trusted, and some people are downright horrible. This is definitely a book geared towards adults, as some of the subject matter is quite controversial, but Tonia writes it all with tact and grace. This is definitely a story that stay with you for a while. I really, really hope she decides to tell more of Samantha's story later on!
