C L Raven is (are) my Woman(Women) in Horror today. They are identical twins who love writing horror, dark comedy, and supernatural short stories and novels. Here is their Amazon bio:

C L Raven are identical twins who love writing horror, dark comedy and supernatural short stories and novels. When they're not writing, they're busy looking after their animal army, exploring castles and ghost hunting in spooky locations, such as abandoned jails. They're half of the ghost hunting team, Cardiff's Answer to Supernatural and have their own show, Calamityville Horror, on YouTube.
Their work features in Eight Hours anthology, two issues of Dark Fire Fiction, the August 2010 issue of Writing Magazine, (it was the winning ghost story) and Issue 6 of Dark Moon Digest. They also write ghost hunting articles for Haunted Digital Magazine. Their debut novel, Soul Asylum was one of only 5 books shortlisted for the National Self-Publishing Awards in June 2013. They've also had numerous short stories and poems published in various competitions. Their unpublished horsemen of the Apocalypse novel, Bleeding Empire, has been longlisted for the Exeter novel award.
They write together, because like the Hydra, they find it useful having more than one head. They just try to stay away from sexy men with hero complexes.
Their claim to fame is that Bob Bryar, the ex drummer from their favourite band, My Chemical Romance, once tweeted them back. And they were once retweeted by Neil Gaiman.

While their books are great, their youtube shows are uber cool as well. It certainly looks like they enjoy their work. There is something about British humor that I really enjoy, and Cat and Lynx - yes, those are their names - are great at it, even in the midst of horror.

Their book Disenchanted is a great alternative Fairy Tale collection.

Book Description

July 11, 2012
Runner-up in the Fantasy category of the 2012 Spa-Spa Book Awards.

Once upon a time, in lands far, far away, everyone lived happily ever after. Until now. If you thought you knew the fairytales well, think again. In a modern world without morals, where beauty does not always equal goodness and evil sometimes wins, the heroes of the legends learn the hard way that survival will take more than just a pretty face, and a handsome prince does not mean salvation. Ten broken fairytales that are definitely not for children's bedtime.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fairytales - but not for kids November 29, 2012

'Disenchanted', a collection of alternative fairytales, is a book I'd recommend to almost anyone. It's a modern and entirely original take on the old stories we're all familiar with - Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood - only in this version, good does not always win and evil is likely to be masked by physical beauty.Indeed, in this version, Snow White is a goth and Prince Charming is a terrorist.

There are so many things to commend this book for. First of all, the stories themselves are unputdownable, with plot twists aplenty and fast-paced action sequences. Secondly, there's the sly humour; every story has its share of laugh-out-loud moments. For example, in 'Girl all the Bad Guys Want', a retelling of 'Snow White', the magic mirror responds to the wicked queen thus: 'Although you haven't aged a bit, Snow White is looking pretty fit'.

Thirdly - and this is always particularly important from my point of view - CL Raven's way with language is outstanding. The descriptive power and beauty of certain passages is dazzling. For example, in 'Midnight Kiss', a decidedly ghoulish retelling of 'Sleeping Beauty', we have this opening paragraph:

'The moon glowered from its pearly throne. A black cloud pierced its heart, its silvery blood spilling over the ground and awakening the shadows that lingered in the dying day. Night creatures awoke to play beneath the black veil, daylight's shackles cast away now the sun's judging eyes were closed. A castle emerged from the night, majestic in its decrepit beauty.'

Remarkably, this descriptive power is balanced finely with action and humour throughout, so that whatever your personal preferences in a story, you'll almost certainly find something to please you here.

Highly recommended - but not for children.

Soul Asylum is a very scary book. Asylums are scary enough as it is, but this one is so much more.

Book Description

September 30, 2012
Shortlisted in Writing Magazine's Self-publishing Awards 2013

The blood wanted to prick a conscience that couldn’t bleed.
Poe could keep his telltale heart.
I couldn't hear it beating.

Ravens Retreat harbours a sinister secret. Inside its blackened heart lurk the ghosts of patients and staff who died when the asylum was burned down in 1904. Over a hundred years later, the West wing survives and now the patients want revenge.

Their eternal repose is disturbed by a malevolent poltergeist and the ghost tours led by the asylum’s resident, Phineas Soul, which attract the attention of journalist Mason Strider. His attempts to expose Phineas as a fraud have catastrophic consequences when it is Ravens Retreat’s dark heart that’s exposed as it awakens to claim the lives of those who dare to enter its brutal past.

Some things should never be disturbed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightfully demented and just in time for Halloween October 2, 2012

C.L. Raven brings us a story that will haunt you long after the Halloween holiday. It's a tale so dark and demented that it will keep you on the edge of your seat until you read the final words, and then you'll likely have to go back and read it again. As an avid reader, it has been a long time since I was unable to "guess" at the ending of a story. This one kept me guessing till the very end.

C.L. Raven uses descriptions that puts you right in the story and you can see what Phineas Soul is seeing and feel what he is feeling. You are living his nightmare and there is no escape except to put down your Kindle... but I guarantee that you will pick it right up again because you'll be dying to know what happens next.

Gunning Down Romance (Romance is Dead Book 1)is not a book to read as you cuddle with your sweetie. Dark side of love indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes you from steamy to screamy at the drop of a hat. February 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
1) Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

2) Genre: Horror

3) Synopsis: 3 wonderful short stories. "Kiss of Death" + " 'Til Death us do Part" + "The Black Kiss"

4) Feelings: I liked all three of these stories but I would have to say the "Kiss of Death" was my favorite. All the stories are not only sexy but they can shift into a horror element. It is an emotional roller coaster going from steamy to screamy at the drop of a hat. This pair of authors sure know how to bring out wonderful emotions and then make you cringe in horror.

5) Final recommendation: I am normally not normally a horror fan but I found each of these short stories entertaining and exhilarating. If steamy to screamy sounds like something you would like to read then spending .99 on this is an excellent purchase.
