BOOKTV

Book TV, which can be accessed through the above link, is a great place to go for a lot of information about the present state of the publishing industry. Mainly, they are into non-fiction books, but some of their discussions and youtube offerings are great.

The one below by James Patterson I found particularly interesting. James is all for Indie Bookstores, and so am I. He stresses the need to supply children with stimulating books to read. I own a small book store within an antique store, although I have thousands of books there, and I know what he is talking about. Maybe I'm not much of a businessman because a lot of kids walk out with a free book in their hands. Lisa McCourt Hollar does the same thing when she goes to a lot of little book signings, swap shows and the like. Good thing we publish our own children's books and can save some money there. I am glad we opened our Press up to children's and YA books. Many of our member authors and non-member authors write for children.

Take a peek at James' video and see for yourself. Also, nose around the site and find some great discussions from the past and what is coming up in the future. You won't be disappointed.
