Emerian Rich is my Woman In Horror today! She was on the go as a child, so her pen became an important part of who she was. Since she was an only child and had a lack of consistent friends because of her constant moving around, her story people became her friends.

Emerian has had quite an eclectic array of accomplishments. She has been a consultant on window design, store merchandising, web design projects, company logos, event planning and decoration, newsletter production, and has been voice acting since 2008. She had a non-profit ezine Dark Lives from 1997 'til 2007. This was for the benefit of unpublished talent in the horror genre to have a place their work could be published.

She is well known for being a Horror Hostess for the fantastic podcast  Horror Addicts.net  http://www.horroraddicts.net/
Horror Addicts.net has become a widely read publisher of horror news, reviews, and fiction.

From her website:

Emerian has been a part of many social and business groups including: The Katz (Supernatural Investigators), Wicked Women Writers, Mad Hatter Tea Society, Quillz Literary Group, and others. She is also an active volunteer for the following causes: Clean The Beach Days, Earth Day, Oil Clean Up Education, Service to Elders, Children’s Day Camp, Community Support for Abused Children, and Activities for the Developmentally Disabled.
She has also written under the names: Emerian Mordrige, E. Mordrige, Emmy Z. Madrigal and Emz.
Emerian lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and son.

One of Emerian's books is an anthology she has a story in,  Pieces Of Eight: Autism Acceptance Benefit Issue. Her story is Wide Awake. This is part of the reason that makes her so special. Thank you, Emerian, for doing what you can for a cause so near and dear to me.

Here is a book description and review for Night's Knights, Emerian's first novel:

Book Description

October 2, 2009
Vampires on a quest for knowledge attempt to create the perfect offspring, but from the shadows an even more demonic evil threatens their immortality. Markham is a simple Irish immigrant striving for the American dream in 1860 when coach robbers cause his untimely death. Severina is an exotic beauty from the jungles of Brazil whose family is brutally murdered by the same man she later calls lover. Julien is a knight who serves as guardian angel to his family but has no clue about his predestined fate. Will a powerful mortal named Jespa be the one to save them all?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Vamp Tale that goes beyond November 16, 2009
Format:Paperback
When we read about vampires we often don't know what caused the original person to become a vampire. We just read about the gore and grief that is caused by vampires. But in Emerian Rich's Night's Knights, it is all explained. Emerian has a turn on the story familiar to us all, an original step away from the myths and legends we know, into a world completely unexpected yet welcome.

I suggest you read Night's Knights and meet Jespa, the heroine who undergoes a complete transformation from a tough street girl, to.... No. You are going to have to read it. Become completely engrossed in each character and care about their end. And find out why it has the intriguing title of Night's Knight's.

This book left me smiling at the end and wondering where Emerian's story telling will take us next.

Emerian's second novel, Artistic License, is also a super story!

Book Description

December 22, 2012
Leslie Marietta is the last known heiress of a palatial estate just south of Los Angeles. When she takes possession of her birthright, sudden creative inspiration allows her to paint alive anything she imagines. Enchantment and wonder transform her life into a fairytale, but as with all fairytales, there is a dark presence. Phantom servants sneak through the house, horrifying shadow creatures threaten to destroy her, and a band of Edwardian house guests are trapped in the walls.

Lord Ashton Northing is a man of property and situation, with a duty to his people that could tear him from his new love, Leslie. Can Ashton convince Leslie she is worthy of her legacy in time to save them from the evil that dwells in her house?
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
ARTISTIC LICENSE by Emerian Rich tells the story of Leslie Marietta, a lonely young woman who is the black sheep of a famous family of artists. When her story opens, she's informed her aunt has passed away and willed her estate to Leslie.

Thus begins a wonderful story with family secrets, Edwardian romance, beautiful magic, foul play, and shadowy creatures. I dare not say anything else lest I spoil the story, except to add you've probably never read anything like this before. I know I haven't, and as I was reading I kept saying to myself, "that's just so bloody cool!"

If I must give one of those comparisons one finds in a review, I'd have to say that this book was like reading DORIAN GRAY as if penned by Jane Austen, and presented by Rod Serling. It is the type of tale I have come to love from Emerian Rich.

It will please fans of her works from both the romance and horror camps that she has cultivated so well. It doesn't try too hard to force either genre, which works well I think. Horror fans will enjoy the suspense without dreading a sappy love story. Romance fans will fall in love without being shocked by gratuitous gore.

Furthermore, I don't know if she has plans for a sequel, but I for one would definitely read it if she does.

Amazon bio:

Emerian Rich was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973, the only child of pastors. She lived in thirty-two different places by the time she graduated high school. With no siblings and no consistent peer relationships, the pen became an integral part of her life, granting her an inexpensive pastime that she could take with her anywhere. The characters in her stories became her friends and her journal, her only continuous confidant.
Night's Knights is Emerian's first print novel. She is the hostess of HorrorAddicts.net and writes for the speculative fiction blog dashPunk.com. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and son.
