Leigh M. Lane is my Woman In Horror today! And Lisa Lane is my Woman In Horror today! Many of you already know about Lisa and Leigh. I have provided plenty of links for you to explore to your heart's content. And the explorations will be exciting. I asked Lisa if she had anything she specifically wanted to mention in this post, and she said to surprise her. I think I am doing an admirable job of that. She'll either kill me or explode with laughter.

First, let's start with Leigh M. Lane. Her great book Finding Poe is a superb read. This is traditional Gothic Horror at its best. If she had to stand on the merits of one book alone, this would be the book. Her other tales are superb as well, don't get me wrong, but this story continually puts one on the very edge of the abyss between sanity and insanity. The tumultuous battles within the protagonist's mind shed more light on psychological interpretation than any psychiatrist could hope to accomplish. I have more than a passing knowledge of  the interactions between body and mind. Leigh is spot on with this fantastic tale.

Myths Of Gods is my second favorite. Yes, my degrees in the sciences combine with my degree in Theology for a rather interesting debate within my own mind. But the great story notwithstanding, this is pure thinking person's literature. As the forward states: Myths of Gods takes a critical look at religion through God's eyes, in a story about good, faithful people and the leaders who would use their collective faith to their own ends.
When religion controls the masses, might even God Incarnate be powerless to stop its people's religious leaders from going too far? Think that one over for a while. History runs rampant with this, but Leigh takes it to the next level.

And now I come to Lisa Lane. She writes erotic horror and sc-fi romance. The Darkness And The Night is one hell-of-a ride. Lisa is an outspoken and vibrant author and uses her special spin on things to make us think, while, at the same time, captivating us with her words. This series is horror erotica at its best. I am a firm believer that the two genres can mix and become one.

So, I present two fantastic women today. Both write in different genres, but do they? Their styles are similar, and the power of their story-telling comes to the front. Leigh M. Lane and Lisa Lane are Women In Horror!

Finding Poe by Lane, Leigh M. (Mar 18, 2012)

Book Description

March 18, 2012
"Atmospheric, lush, and lyrical, Leigh M. Lane's Finding Poe is a haunting Gothic novel which will delight anyone familiar with the works of Edgar Allan Poe, as well as anyone who enjoys an evocative and classic tale of terror." -horror/mystery author Dana Fredsti.

When reality and fiction collide, there's no telling what horrors might ensue.

In the wake of her husband's haunted death, Karina must sift through the cryptic clues left behind in order to solve the mystery behind his suicide--all of which point back to the elusive man and author, Edgar Allan Poe.

Karina soon finds that reality, dream, and nightmare have become fused into one as she journeys from a haunted lighthouse in New England to Baltimore, where the only man who might know the answers to her many questions resides.

But will she find her answers before insanity rips her grip on reality for good? Might a man she's never met hold the only key to a truth more shocking than even she could have imagined?

Finding Poe was a 2013 EPIC Awards finalist in Horror.

Karina is in her own personal hell. Forced to leave her home & social status because of a scandal, her husband, Brantley, relocates them to an abandoned lighthouse in New England. She soon starts seeing things, horrific things, & her husband is on the brink of madness. After his untimely death, she finds a letter address to Mr. Poe, & makes it her personal mission to see to it that the letter gets delivered. Spectacularly written, this is a tale of horror, madness, fear, hope, love & betrayal. Horrific, magnificent, fantastic, bizarre & beautiful, Leigh has taken us to the very edge of what we perceive as insanity. It brings to mind the old Memorex commercial, "Is it live, or is it Memorex?". Has Karina gone completely mad, or are things more malevolent than they appear? A must read for any horror fan, a book that makes you think, and makes you question your own sanity.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"From the very opening of the book you find yourself captivated and don't want to put the book down. . . ." --Keepers of the Underworld Magazine

From the Author

This book is dedicated to all those who believe in and deny God, to those who have faith and those who are uncertain, to those who love religion and those who despise it, and to all those who question what humanity has made of it all.

From the Back Cover

In a time long before ours, in a place distant yet familiar, an infant God attempts to intervene against humanity's destructive path by making a personal visit. Despite efforts of the people's Elders, who are willing to do anything to hide the truth and safeguard their wealth and power, God comes to the people in the form of five prophets, each the embodiment of one of God's five attributes: life, time, matter, mind, and death.

Vara, raised by a religious Elder, is in denial over her uncanny connection with all living things.

Ched, Vara's husband and the town's clockmaker, is unaware that his relationship with time is similarly unique.

Len, alchemist and provider of the town's trading currency, knows he is capable of more than merely turning lead into gold.

Adtom, the carpenter's son and apprentice, leaves a wake of death and destruction wherever he goes.

Jeza is the only one who remembers who they are and why they came. Unfortunately, not even possessing the embodied mind of God is enough to help her fully understand human nature, and when she and others challenge the Elders' divine interpretations, they find themselves in line for more than just death at the sacrificial stakes.

Myths of Gods takes a critical look at religion through God's eyes, in a story about good, faithful people and the leaders who would use their collective faith to their own ends.

When religion controls the masses, might even God Incarnate be powerless to stop its people's religious leaders from going too far?
