"You cannot spell manslaughter without laughter." Jaime Page

Jaime Page, or J-me Page as she likes to be called on Facebook, is my Woman In Horror today! J-me has been a consistent follower of mine on Facebook, particularly when I mention other authors. Lo and behold, I researched this young lady and asked her if she would like to be one of my Women In Horror. Her answer was over the top! I loved it, for you see, J-me is no shrinking violet. She lives life on her own terms and the hell with those who don't agree. Go to her Facebook page, link above, and you'll see what I mean.

She gave me a link to her book on Amazon, and I fell in love with the reviews, so I, of course, had to splatter them all over beneath the book description. The preview piece included in the book description also paints quite a visual as to what this story is all about.

So, my friends, we see the super talent present within a lady torn by horrors present deep within her soul. She combats them, as many writers do, by expelling them onto the page, giving us a visual of supreme terror and morbidity. She does exactly what I do. Why write of the good things? She writes about the inherent truth in society today. Those truths are Damned Dark, and it takes a person of strong character to spew them out onto the written page. For her supreme talents, and for her complete honesty, she is to be highly commended.

I am proud to call her friend, and I am glad to have another great author's works which I can read and enjoy.

J-me's words

"I am a widow and have been through hell and back. My 14 yr old son Chaos is my life and I have been writing for over 15 years. I write horror and hard core smut. I live my life the way I see fit and do not care what anyone has to say about it either. I will try just about anything once.. sometimes I get into trouble, but that is life.. you have to take chances, and if you don't then you might as well dig a grave. I am morbid and see the light in the darkness, I see the beauty is all things, even death."

"We are sensual fiends by nature...

I am a widow as many of you know. In the blink of an eye my entire world was destroyed. Losing those I loved made me appreciate life, odd I know.

I have been through hell and back. What I have been through in the past years many will never go through, but I also know that others have gone through worse.

I am a beautiful catastrophe and I live life my fucking way and on my terms. Live life to the bloody hilt!!!

Now hand me my chainsaw"

What a woman!

Jamie Page's super book!

Book Description

February 11, 2013
Drusilla reminisces with her sister about their misadventures and of course the one misadventure that defines them, the revenge killing of her boyfriend. The dark exploration of sinister and disturbed lives intertwined in murder is sure to keep you up late at night with the lights on, just hoping that sound in the hallway is only your imagination.

Warning: This ebook contains very graphic and horrific imagery. Parents should read this in its entirety before allowing a child in their care to read it.

Here is a preview:

“He smiled and asked what was I doing there, do you remember? I told him I just wanted to see if I had a chance, and then you came out. Before he could even blink his eyes, we were on him like wolves. We tore at his flesh like ravenous beasts. He screamed in agony and tried his best to get us off. Ha! There was no way that he was getting away from us. After what he did, he was going to pay. Lifting his limp body up and putting it in the trunk was hard, but we did it. The look of shock on his face made me laugh. You on the other hand, were as calm as I have ever seen you. You had it all planned out and I was along for the ride. He was already a bloody mess, but then the fun started.
“I wanted to play as well, but you didn’t want to share with me in this one. I understood so I backed away, found a chair, and enjoyed the show. You walked around him ever so slowly, come to think about it, you actually looked like you were walking on a runway. You looked beautiful. You slowly got to your knees, put your hand on his chin, and brought his face up to meet your gaze. You began to kiss him. That kiss was a passionate one, and you said to him? Oh what was it again; yeah I remember now, that it was a kiss before you die. He let out such a moan, I laughed in spite of myself. You turned around and glared at me. You actually had daggers in your eyes, at me of all people.”

Drusilla is reminiscing about good times with her twin sister and she gives the reader a look into their world of wicked games played on men. It is one game where she watches her sister in action using her instruments of pain with the loving artistic hand of someone about to give pleasure and then the blood falls shortly after the first cut.

This short story borders on pleasure and pain some of it is external and as the story continues the reader sees some internal pain as well. Jamie has balance in her story with some telling, showing and dispersing dialogue as appropriated by the characters. I enjoyed reading and was happy when the boundaries for the reader became blurred so much that I felt like I was in the room with Drusilla. That is the artistic gift of a talented storyteller.

The flaws were very minor. I found very few: a missing word, unnecessary wordage and something all authors miss (myself included) misspelling. The issues are so minor that most readers may not catch it because of the pacing of the story. I would however say this is a note more fitted to the editor to read more carefully and less of a negative reflection on the author who has been told it was edited.

I highly recommend everyone who enjoys a twisted tale of horror with a psychological spin, to purchase a copy of "Drusilla's Mirror: A Tale of Horror" by Jamie Page. The price is right and the story is priceless. --Char Hardin To read the rest of the review and others go to charhardindotcom

I will say right from get go- this author- she is a wonderful writer- I have read many things by her. She has this as well as other genres in writing. Jamie does an amazing job in her writing. I have not got through the whole book yet- I am a snail at reading- and that sucks- but I do know I need to leave a little something for the author.

First- I am enjoying the book greatly- a great ,and (yes) refreshing book- and a great intro to me to get back to reading more. I could NOT have started at a better place! I am being entertained- and "horrorfied" all at once and loving it- I am a horror geek- all the way around. I give this young woman a thumbs up on her writing- her writing skills and her excellent ability to keep the story interesting- and to keep MY attention ( which is VERY difficult when it comes to reading).

Thank you so much for writing this- and sharing your talent with so many- and with me- you rock- your writing is "adored" by me- and I cannot wait to read more~
