Words are my strength, but they are also my weakness; my Achille’s Heel; my Kryptonite. I am vulnerable to their impact, their weight, their significance. To their points or edges or bluntness.” -- Lori R. Lopez
Lori R. Lopez is a very prolific author, as you will see when you read this post. She does not believe in writing that which has been written before. No, no no. That is for lesser writers. Her novel An Ill Wind Blows, available in ebook now and soon to come out in paperback, is a whirlwind adventure ( pardon the pun ). Let me say up front that Lori wrote this tale in one month and bested a number of other writers, taking home a Crystal Trophy for being the best of the best. I was one of the writers she topped. I'm not afraid to say this. My story was good, but hers was better. No shame in that. She wrote a great book. :D
This young lady has many friends and fans in the horror industry and some in other genres because she writes of many things. There is no one tag for Lori. She is her own woman. One thing that I admire about her is the fact she has been able to rise above much adversity to accomplish what she has. She is to be admired for that. Very much so.
My Women In Horror list could not be complete without Lori R. Lopez!

From her Amazon Author Page:
Lori
R. Lopez has always loved books since being read to when small, then
reading and writing them herself. She is the author of works spanning
multiple categories from Nonfiction to Fiction; novel to story to verse
collection; children's fiction, storybooks and more, usually with a
blend of genres such as Humor, Fantasy, Horror, Supernatural, Thriller,
Epic-Adventure and so on. Her titles include OUT-OF-MIND EXPERIENCES,
CHOCOLATE-COVERED EYES, DANCE OF THE CHUPACABRAS, THE MACABRE MIND OF
LORI R. LOPEZ: THIRTEEN TORMENTOUS TALES, and her award-winning novel AN
ILL WIND BLOWS.
While her primary focus is on novels and short stories, one of her many projects is an autobiographical book series about her life which features themes of abuse, family, and following dreams. Lori is an actress and musician, as well as a wildlife-eco-warrior and an advocate against Abuse through her prose, poetry, and song lyrics. An artist, she designs her own book covers.
Her stories and verse appear in anthologies such as MIRAGES: TALES FROM AUTHORS OF THE MACABRE, MASTERS OF HORROR: DAMNED IF YOU DON'T, I BELIEVE IN WEREWOLVES, SOUP OF SOULS, THIRSTY ARE THE DAMNED, THE EPOCALYPSE: EMAILS AT THE END, DEADICATION, and magazines (THE BLACK GLOVE; THE HORROR ZINE ISSUE "GHOSTS AND HAUNTS"; WOMEN EMPOWERMENT). Fifteen of Lori's poems were published for an anthology titled IN DARKNESS WE PLAY (Triskaideka Books). Featured by THE BLACK GLOVE MAGAZINE, CUP OF STARS: WOMEN IN HORROR, BLOODY GOOD VAMPIRES, HOT BOOKS DAILY and more, Lori is a renegade indie author who believes creative writing should not be standardized or conventional. She and her sons are establishing an entertainment website for their many creative pursuits at www.trilllogicinnoventions.com, where Lori also writes a passionate often-humorous column called "Poetic Reflections".

The unique adventure AN ILL WIND BLOWS depicts one night when an ordinary person lacking confidence must battle a wicked wind. The stakes are high as she, along with friends and foes, travels through a magical storm world that culminates in a ghost town populated by more than just spirits. This is a story that keeps delivering action and fun throughout. It is more than a single tale in a single genre. The book blends Humor, Horror, and Fantasy.

She will be releasing in print and E-book THE FAIRY FLY, an illustrated fairytale for all ages that combines elements of horror, humor and fantasy. She wrote the first draft fifteen years ago and is finally getting back to it.

Lori's horror collection THE MACABRE MIND OF LORI R. LOPEZ contains some of her stories from anthologies along with other creepy tales.
A dark and light collection of horror tales from the morbid murky madness of author Lori R. Lopez, along with a poem, an introduction on fear, and a conclusion on why writers write . . . all previously published in anthologies, on websites, or individually as E-books . . . gathered in one spectacularly eerie volume! Horror, humor, and weirdities abound. From zombies and creatures to psychos, werewolves and Bigfoot, this is a horror collection you should not read alone!

Thank you again, Blaze, I am humbled. I really appreciate it and feel very proud to be included on your list of women in horror! I'm in awe of them! Applause to all of the wicked lady writers! :D
ReplyDeleteNo need to be humbled, Lori. You write so many great tales. You certainly deserve to take your place with the elite Women In Horror!
ReplyDeleteBlaze
Applause too for the female fans who are fanatic readers of horror like Vix Kirkpatrick, one of the featured ladies!!! Being a horror fan is not so common among women, and I am always thrilled to see ladies who are like me -- a little bit odd, perhaps -- hooked on horror! :D
ReplyDeleteI believe all of us in the horror community have our enjoyment in reading and writing. Though Vix professes not to be a writer, one has only to read her reviews and exhortations to know she has a talent as well as a vested interest in our beloved genre, Lori.
ReplyDeleteBlaze
I agree. I love her reviews! And we are certainly all horror nuts or we would be off doing some other devotion. Applause to you, Blaze, for celebrating the females of horror -- whether they read, write or both. I will add again that I am grateful to Vix and Jennifer Thomas for giving me so much support over the past year. They are true women in horror as I have not known anyone more avid to read a scary story! :)
Deletethat is one impressive list of books!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vix! And you should know -- you have most of them! I always feel good when I release something and you're excited! You've been there since my first E-book. I really appreciate it. :D
DeleteI can feel the love in here!

Go, Lori!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, Blaze and Lori you are prolific!
My goodness! you honor women writing horror today!
Wow!
Lori is indeed a busy lady, Carole! I had my work cut out for me to keep the post short. NOT! :D
DeleteBlaze
Hi, Carole! Thanks for reading it and for your kind thoughts! :)
DeleteThanks for sharing this, Blaze. As you can see, I'm way behind in my blog visits. *sigh* I have crossed paths with Lori before, but admit I didn't really know that much about her. Thanks for taking the time to offer her a platform, giving me an opportunity to learn more about her and her work.
ReplyDeleteI hope life has been treating you well, my friend. Take care.
-Jimmy
Hi and thanks for reading, James! We do cross paths! I'm glad you learned more and hope that some of my work sounds interesting! Blaze is doing a wonderful thing with these salutes to us ladies of horror. :)
Delete:D
DeleteBlaze
You are most welcome, James. I'm behind on my blog visits as well. I was sick and am still pulling myself out from the pit. Lori is certainly a prolific writer, and like I said, she beat me fair and square. :D
ReplyDeleteBlaze
Glad you're feeling better, Blaze! And competing against you was a thrill. You are pretty tough competition I consider it one of my greatest accomplishments. :)
DeleteThank you for your kind words, Lori!
DeleteBlaze
