"I don't believe in writer's block. An empty screen and a daily word quota is all the inspiration I need. It doesn't have to be perfect--it just has to be there. To do anything else puts undue stress on the writer. Edit it later--write it NOW!"  Carson Buckingham

"I never outline anything. All I start with is how I want what I'm writing to end, and then write to that ending."
Carson Buckingham

Carson Buckingham is my Woman In Horror today! Not only is she a horror writer with a number of short stories in anthologies, some that I am honored to be in as an author alongside her, but she has written a novella, Home, which is up for consideration to be republished through another Press, and two other novels, Gothic Revival and Nobel Rot, as well.

Her latest short story anthology entry is Skin Deep in Zippered Flesh 2, an anthology of body enhancements gone wrong, published by Smart Rhino. There are some delightful tales in this great tome, and Carson's is at the top of the list!

Carson likes to keep her blog updated daily, weekly, and monthly, depending upon which page you're on.

What I like about Carson's blog is the humor she brings to it. Even though her subject matter is Dark, her humor is . . . well, it's funny! Check out her blog and see if you don't agree with me.

Carson's Facebook page is busy as well
and she has numerous side trips to her blog telling folks that the photo of the day is up, amongst other things. She is also busy in any number of FB groups, doing what she can to get the word out about her fellow authors and other artists in our genre.

Not only is Carson an author, but she is also a superb editor, who charges great rates, and a book reviewer as well. What a talented lady!

Below is Carson Buckingham's bio from her Amazon Author Page:

Carson Buckingham has been a stand-up comic, a comedy writer, a technical writer, a humor columnist, an advertising copywriter, a newspaper reporter, a blogger, an editor, a proofreader, and, first and foremost, a dark fantasy writer. She prefers fiction writing above all, since fiction, ultimately, is where the truth is. A transplanted Connecticut native, she lives in Arizona with her wonderful husband, and a houseful of pets, plants, and books.
Her blog is at and though she is a dark fantasy writer, Carson's blog is humorous (she hopes) with commentary on life's absurdities updated each week. THE CAPTIONED PHOTO OF THE DAY is there, too, along with the HORRORSCOPES. You can also find out about what she's up to in the world of dark fantasy in the BOOK BLURBS section.
And lastly, Carson is also a book reviewer at Shroud Magazine. She accepts all sub-genres of horror (though not the hard core blood, guts and gore so much). Indie is fine, but no self-published material, please. She only reads paperbacks or hardcovers, because reading ebooks gives her a screaming headache. Please contact her by email and tell her a little about the book you would like her to consider for review:

Book Description

July 20, 2011
Following the deaths of her mother and beloved aunt, Kate Kavanagh inherits the family homestead in the Irish enclave of Three Oaks, Connecticut; but the house has changed since she visited a year ago--no more windows on the first floor and gaslights and a wood burning stove in place of the modern appliances. It also appears to be haunted. And that's just for starters. Once she moves into the house, Kate herself begins a gradual but terrifying biological transformation that is part of her inheritance, too; though not mentioned in the Will. With the help of a Rottweiler that's more human than animal, a new friend whose farm stand is only open dusk to dawn, and the "Rat Boys," Kate will get some answers or die trying.

With all of her past credits, present endeavors, and super things to come, it is quite obvious why Carson Buckingham is a Woman In Horror!
