ALLISON M. DICKSON - WOMAN IN HORROR!

“Don't for once ever think that what you're doing is easy. If it feels that way, you're probably doing something wrong. Throwing words onto a page is easy. But writing, the real kind, is hard. It's damn hard.”Allison M Dickson

Allison M. Dickson is my Woman In Horror today! She is not a woman shirking in the corner when great horror writers are talked about. This young lady writes some hard core horror. As such, she is as good or better than anyone. I was just on her blog to get a little more background information, and I will have to return and do some more in-depth reading. She takes no prisoners and tells it like it is. http://www.allisonmdickson.com/2013/02/in-defense-of-hopelessness-in-fiction.html is a post she wrote that sums up part of what this complex young lady is all about.

The Good Girls is the short story she wishes me to talk about to showcase her talents, and it certainly does just that. However, any of her other tales could do the same thing. She is that good. The Good Girls is a short story that has been expanded into a novel called Strings, which is likely coming out later this fall. This is also the short story which the link above talks about. I must honestly say that after reading her comments, anyone would want to read this book. Oh, yeah!

She also has a dystopian science fiction novel called The Last Supper coming out this spring from Hobbes End Publishing. As if her skills in the craft could encompass any more! Allison is a firm believer in the "give them more of what they want" philosophy.

Allison M. Dickson is one fantastic author!

Allison's Amazon Author page bio:

Allison M. Dickson lives in southwest Ohio and has been writing since she could hold pencil to paper. It's only in recent years that she started treating the craft as a career. After earning a few small publishing credits, she started selling her stories online, where she gained a decent following with such dark tales as "Dust" and "Vermin." She soon caught the attention of author and visionary Vincent Hobbes, and her relationship with Hobbes End Publishing solidified with her two contributions to the second volume of The Endlands, and finally with their recent acceptance of her upcoming science-fiction novel, The Last Supper. Her other obsessions include food, movies, cracking bad jokes with her family over dinner, taking pictures of her giant cat, and harboring secret fantasies of being a Bond girl/sword-wielding martial arts master.

As the review above states, "It feels like the first time you hear the scariest ghost story at overnight camp--it's new to you, but you can just tell it has roots. It has bones." All of Allison M. Dickson's tales have "bones." And those bones are rattling.

Allison M. Dickson is a Woman In Horror!
